JSM to take up pension issue of staff, public representatives

Published on:

Since the creation of Uttarakhand till the present, the members of legislative assembly have had a considerable increase in their pensions/family pensions. However, the MlAs have so far remained silent when it comes to other public representatives and employees, said the head of Jan Sangharsh Morcha (JSM) Raghunath Singh Negi.

He further stressed that the Jan Sangharsh Morcha will protest on the roads in support of the demand for pension for the employees and other public representatives and if needed will also approach the court of law.

Addressing a Press conference here on Tuesday, Negi opined that when it comes to their own interests and facilities, the MlAs have arranged for their pension in various scenarios. He said, “As soon as the oath of office is taken till giving up of the post, their demise or end of their term—in various scenarios the MlAs are eligible for pension.

They are eligible for pension even if they vacate their post or expire on the next day after taking oath of office. Employees in the State,

even after 20-30 years of service on temporary basis and less than 10 years of regularised service do not become eligible for pension today. Along with them, there is no provision for pension for Gram Pradhan, block Panchayat members and district Panchayat members which is responsible for the dissimilarity being witnessed in the social sphere. It is surprising that an MlA who receives ample salary and allowances while in

term becomes eligible for

pension too while on the other

hand the employees and other public representatives are

often forced by circumstances to live a ‘second-class’ existence. In many cases, the family faces a struggle for survival in case of accidental death of an employee or public

representative,” said Negi.
