Retaining the focus on alleged anomalies in the nomination paper of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat during the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections, the Jan Sangharsh Morcha gheraoed the Vikasnagar Tehsil and submitted a memorandum addressed to the president to the Vikasnagar sub divisional magistrate Jitendra Kumar.
Negi said that in his nomination paper for the 2017 Assembly elections, Rawat had stated his age as 54 years while in the nomination paper for the 2014 bypolls too he had stated his age as 54 years.
“He had not mentioned the Dhaincha seeds scam while also failing to mention that a public interest litigation was pending in the high court and that notice had been issued against him in the case. The article 19 (1) of the constitution of India states that the people have the right to have knowledge about their candidate in election. In this case there is provision for cancelling the membership of an MlA and disqualification from contesting election,” said Negi.
The JSM has demanded in its memorandum to the president that action be taken against the chief minister in this case.
