Accusing Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat of not stating his correct date of birth in his election nomination paper, a delegation of Jan Sangharsh Morcha met with the Election Commission of India Director General Dilip Sharma and demanded action against the Chief Minister.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, the Jan Sangharsh Morcha head Raghunath Singh Negi said in his nomination paper for the 2017 Vidhan Sabha election, Rawat had stated his age to be 54 years. Even in the 2014 bye-polls, he had stated his age as 54 years in the nomination paper. “Apart from this, in his 2017 nomination paper, there is no mention of the Dhaincha seeds scam or of the fact that a notice was issued against him by the court in the case or that a public interest litigation against him is pending in the high court. We met the ECI Director General Dilip Sharma and sought action against Rawat. We have demanded that he be disqualified from the Vidhan Sabha and that a complaint be lodged against him.”

He questioned, “How can Rawat be aged 54 years in his 2014 nomination paper and also in his 2017 nomination paperIJ Recently, he celebrated his birthday during October 2017 when the Prime Minister also tweeted to wish him, whereas according to his Wikipedia page, he was born in December 1960.”
