In connection with alleged rape case, Uttarakhand Joint Secretary SS Waldia who was arrested under Sections 120B, 384, 389 and 504 of IPC on Thursday was produced in the Court of Judicial Magistrate-II Rinki Sahni by special police team on Friday.
After hearing prosecution and defense arguments, the court sent Waldia to 14-day judicial custody. The court has fixed Monday as the date for next hearing on his bail plea. The State Government is now expected to suspend him within 48 hours. Sources said that defense advocate argued that a copy of FIR was provided to Waldia on Thursday late night but media reports revealed that DGP BS Sidhu had declared his arrest at around 5 pm in a Press conference on that day.
The police imposed several sections of IPC on Waldia which were not appropriate. Waldia was called for questioning in this case and later he was arrested by the police, advocate added. He is being made victim of conspiracy, he added. The prosecution advocate argued that police has sufficient evidence against Waldia for his involvement in making CD with intent to supersede Joshi and improve his own chances of promotion. After hearing both the sides, the court sent Waldia to 14 days judicial remand. Waldia said that he believes in God and that he will not comment on case related to JP Joshi. Moreover, Uttarakhand DGP Sidhu said that in the investigations, it has been revealed that Waldia was in touch with the woman complainant a week beforeCD was made.
Waldia had made several phone calls to the woman complaint on October 19-20, the day, woman had allegedly made CD of the alleged rape. "The investigation is being conducted in an unbiased and transparent manner," he claimed. DGP Sidhu said that Waldia was Joshi's junior who had conspired to make the CD of Joshi with the girl in order to stop his promotion.
later some journalists had also joined the conspiracy to blackmail Joshi. Police are collecting evidences against two other accused- ex-Congress member Ritu Kandiyal and Amit Garg in this case and they will soon be arrested if they do not come before the police. It should be mentioned here that Uttarakhand joint secretary social welfare Suman Singh Waldia was arrested on Thursday on charges of planning the making of a sex video that led to the imprisonment of Joshi. Joshi was sent for 14 days judicial custody on charges of raping a woman, to whom he had promised a government job.
