The Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) suspended a junior engineer (JE) for illegally providing electricity from 11kv line to an unauthorised stone crusher located at Bannakhera in Ramnagar on Friday. Action against the errant officer was only taken after a complaint was filed. The UPCl officials said the JE had taken the initiative to supply power to the stone crusher on his own. The probe is on, they added. The development has only added to residents’ concern who for long have been deeply upset by the unauthorised stone crushing continuing unabated.
