Jansangharsh Morcha stages protest, demands scholarships for gen category

Members of the Jansangharsh Morcha staged a protest demonstration at the Vikasnagar Tehsil demanding scholarships for general category youngsters of economically weak families. Addressing the protestors at the demonstration, the Jansangharsh Morcha head Raghunath Singh Negi expressed concern at the uncertain future being faced by those born in economically weaker family of persons belonging to the general category. Such general category youngsters from poor families are not ensured of required education due to their financial inability.

He said, “It is perplexing that the government spends crores of rupees every year in the form of scholarships even to children from financially affluent schedule caste and schedule tribe families. On the other hand numerous children from poor general category families are being forced to drop out of school in the absence of any type of assistance or scholarship to facilitate school education and higher education for them. These youngsters have considerable potential.

It would be better if the government awarded scholarships only to poor SC-ST children which would not have created a gulf between the rich and poor,” said Negi. General secretary of the Jansangharsh Morcha, Akash Panwar said that youngsters with potential are being forced to leave education incomplete and work as daily wagers in industrial units. The Jansangharsh Morcha will undertake a broad campaign in support of the demand for scholarships to general category youngsters who are financially weak, he added.
