Undeterred by the shocking incident of a transporter consuming poison during the Janata Milan Programme when one of a Cabinet Minister was hearing public grievances at State party office and political furor it caused, the State Government has decided to take the Janata Milan programme down to the block level.
The urban development and housing Minister and Government spokesman Madan Kaushik said that the Ministers in charge of districts would be present in the districts on last Friday of every month and hold Janata Milan programmes. This month’s last Friday being Republic Day it has been decided that the Ministers would hold such programmes after January 26.
All Secretary in charges of the districts too have been directed to be present in these Janata Milan programmes at district levels. The cabinet also took note of absence of a secretary in charge in Janata Milan programme of the district under him and sought report from Chief Secretary on the issue. In another decision which highlights the Government’s priority to these programmes, the District Magistrates (DM) have been asked to hold interaction with general public on every Monday.
The DMs would not schedule any other meetings on the day and the Cabinet Ministers have been directed not to disturb the DMs when they are holding Janata Milan on Mondays.
The DMs would also attend Tehsil Diwas programme at Tehsils as per the roster. These programmes would be held on First Thursday in all Tehsils. Similarly the CDOs, ADM, SDM and block level officers have been directed to hold Janata Milan programmes at Blocks on Wednesdays.
