A vigilance team arrested Jal Sansthan, Dehradun accountant Arvind Sharma while he was accepting bribe from Aam Aadmi Party member and Govindgarh resident Sanjay Bhatt on Friday, said Superintendent of Police (Vigilance Headquarter) Roshan lal Sharma.
The SP said that Sanjay Bhatt had registered a complaint stating Arvind Sharma and Narayan Dutt, who were claiming to be Jal Sansthan inspectors and had demanded Rs8,000 as bribe to exempt him from paying his water bill of Rs16,500. Taking cognisance of this, a team headed by Gajendra Singh Rautela verified the complaint before reaching Bhatt’s residence where Sharma was caught red handed while accepting bribe from Bhatt. Talking to The Pioneer Bhatt said that the duo had approached him a month ago and stated that his water connection had been disconnected by the department because he had not paid the water bill amounting to Rs16,500. On Thursday, Bhatt had made a video clip of him paying Rs 1, 000 bribe to Sharma and Narayan Dutt and handed over the clip to the Vigilance department. On Friday, only Sharma had reached Bhatt’s home to accept the remaining bribe amount of Rs4500 from him.
