Congress MlA from Dharchula Harish Dhami, who staged hunger strike in Didihat jail, was referred to Pithoragarh district hospital on Sunday after complaints of low blood pressure and imbalance in sugar level.
Dhami, an accused in a clash that took place between two groups in 2007, was on hunger strike demanding action against the then officials for dragging his name in the case. He complained about low blood pressure and imbalance in sugar level in the judicial custody at Didihat.
Keeping in view his deteriorating health condition, Dhami was referred to Pithoragarh district hospital, Didihat SHO RC lohani told The Pioneer.
Though he broke his hunger strike after his blood pressure, sugar level reduced and developed some health complication, he was shifted to district hospital, the SHO added.
Since no physician is available at Didihat hospital is also one of the reasons why he was referred to the said Pithoragarh hospital, added the SHO. The next hearing on the Dhami bail plea is on Monday at a local court in Didihat. It is to be seen whether Dhami gets bail in this case or not. Dhami surrendered before the Didihat court on Saturday in connection with a 2007 case in which he allegedly involved in a clash in Munsiyari.
It is reported that Dhami did not appear before the court in this case. Subsequently, a non-bailable warrant was also issued against him.
Dhami moved the High Court of Uttarakhand and subsequently got some relief. But then the HC also asked Dhami to be present before the Didihat court.
Following the court’s order Dhami surrendered before the Didihat court on Saturday and applied for bail in this connection. But the Didihat court cancelled his bail plea and sent him to judicial custody.
At the same time Dhami began his hunger strike in the jail, saying demanding the Government to take action against the then police officials and local administrative, who dragged his name in this case.
