IYC to organise 3-day padyatra

As part of its Kisan Satyagraha, the Indian Youth Congress will be undertaking a three-day padyatra from Bhatta Parsaul to Delhi. The purpose of this rally is to mark protest of the farmers against the land Acquisition Bill of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. The rally will begin on March 13. The national president of the Indian Youth Congress, Amrinder Singh Raja Brar, said this while addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday during his first visit to the State after being made the national president of IYC.

Informing about the protest rally Brar said that it would conclude in Delhi with a demonstration slated to be held outside the Parliament on March 15. The IYC expects that a large number of its members from Uttarakhand would be participating in this protest. Stating that he was expecting a bigger role for Indian Youth Congress members in governance, Brar opined that the IYC should also be accorded positions of responsibility.

Acknowledging that factionalism did exist in the Youth Congress in the State, Brar emphasised that he had advised the IYC to desist from this and work with combined effort to strengthening the Congress in the State. Earlier after arriving in Dehradun, the IYC national president deliberated with State IYC leaders on organisational issues while exhorting them to strengthen the IYC organisation in Uttarakhand.
