It'll be the day of deliverance, Rawat goes on the offensive

Hailing the Supreme court order fixing May 10 for the floor  test,  former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Friday that he would prove his majority as asked  by the  court on the designated day. He also lauded the apex court  for  maintaining the supremacy  of the  Speaker in conducting  the Vidhan Sabha on the issue of disqualified MlAs. "This is the order we had been looking forward to. This is a landmark one as far as the sanctity of the Assembly and its Speaker is concerned," he said.

Without naming BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, Rawat said that some eagle-eyed leaders have been prowling in Dehradun to scout for Congress MlAs or those supporting him. “One of them is coming daily to lure the  MlAs loyal to us. With the MlAs  remaining indifferent, the saffron-hued poachers raised  the price of their switch to `50 cr and even more. However, still, the  ice  has not thawed for them, something which gives me immense pleasure. They have failed in their nefarious mission and the same would happen to them in the future,” Rawat  said.

Calling May  10 as  a day of deliverance  for the State reeling under the Centre-unleashed repression, the deposed  CM said the MlAs loyal to him would again  prove their  loyalty on the day the floor  test is slated.

Taking the Centre head-on, he said the drama beginning with the imposition of the President's Rule and the CBI being unleashed on him would prove a fiasco. "They  would not  succeed to topple my Government," he said.

Rubbishing the BJP allegation that he himself had been leading horse-trading from the front, Rawat said this is flippancy on the part of the Opposition leaders. "I have neither tried to buy MlAs nor would I do it in future.  I do not need to either. I am invincibly convinced that the Congress MlAs as well as those from the PDF would stand rock-like behind me on  the day of reckoning," Harish Rawat averred.
