The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) director of training Pankaj Kumar Pandey has directed the principals and officials concerned to make meaningful efforts to link students trained at ITIs with employment. He said that the institute principals should bring some changes in their functioning.

They should establish coordination with industrial institutions, visit industries to seek knowledge about new machines and technologies so that the institute students can also be linked with new technologies to enable cent per cent placement.

Speaking at a meeting with principals and instructors, Pandey said that considering the times and technologies, they should provide their suggestions for the conduct of new technical courses at ITI.

This will help link students with new courses, enhancing their placement potential. He further said that the principals and instructors too will be given training for which they will be sent on visits to industrial enterprises.

They will also be attached with the directorate and old principals to further enhance their work efficiency. For this purpose, Pandey directed the additional director of training, RD Paliwal to prepare a schedule for the said training.

Pandey pointed out that with large industrial concerns like Volvo, JCB, Escort and Bajaj among others operating, meaningful efforts will have to be undertaken to enable placement of the ITI pass out students in such industrial enterprises. Some old courses will also have to be discontinued, he said, while also seeking suggestions from all principals regarding this.

He further said that in the future, the instructors will be trained not only in machine operator but also in machine mechanics so that in case of mechanical malfunction, they will be able to repair the machine themselves. He also directed that in order to encourage an academic atmosphere in the ITIs, the desired level of sanitation should also be maintained.
