ITBP man kills wife at Haldwani hospital

Murder of a woman by her husband, an ITBP personnel, posted at Pithoragarh, in the Haldwani Base Hospital early on Tuesday morning amid presence of a mahila police constable has again raised question before the functioning of the Nainital district police.

If sometime personal conduct of its own policemen came in the way of the Nainital district police in maintaining discipline and high standard of service as happened in the case of ASP Pramendra Dobal case recently, now killing of a young lady by her husband in the Haldwani Base Hospital, which is only a few meters away from the local police station here, is now raising doubts over the functioning of the Nainital district police.

It is a serious matter the way the ITBP personnel succeeded in executing his nefarious design of murdering his wife in the hospital premises at a time when the victim was recuperating in the said hospital in the presence of the police, said a local here.

However, when the matter was taken up with the SP City Amit Srivastav, the Nainital district police, he maintained that the police was looking into the matter.

"Everything is under investigation at present. Therefore, we can't say anything on this issue. let us examine it," he added.

Meanwhile, the murder of his wife by the ITBP personnel in the Haldwani Base Hospital premises has come as a major cause of concern for relatives of many patients of the said hospital here.

They are of the view that after this incident it seems there is no guarantee of the safety of the patients and their relatives from such external threats in this hospital. The way this incident has taken place, it seems any one can enter the hospital to cause harm to any one, said relative of a patient.

However, when the attention of the CMS of the Haldwani Base Hospital, DC Bhatt, was drawn to the said incident, he said that during the night time two PRD jawans are deployed to look after the security of the hospital.

However, it is not possible to deploy police force in the hospital premises. Nothing can be done when own relative takes such extreme step like that we witnessed today. Yet we always try to keep our hospital staff alert, he added.
