Acting on tip- offs on tax evasion, teams of Income Tax Department conducted raids at various jewellery shops in Vikasnagar, Paonta Sahib and Dehradun on Thursday.
However, the IT teams were tight-lipped while conducting the raids. With raids on, the team had sought help from Dehradun police.
Sources said that the IT officials had seized computers and some documents from the raided shops.
The shops thus raided were sealed. The bullion traders were questioned too, it is learnt
A Dehradun –based police officer said that they had deputed around dozen policemen, after the IT officials sought security for them. The raids were on while the report was being filed.
