Acting on a tip-off on tax evasion, teams of the Income Tax Department conducted raids at two commercial establishments on Friday. The raids have triggered panic among the traders. The teams had raided a sweet shop near Hanuman Chowk and a shoe showroom on Rajpur Road and seized computer and collected critical documents in Dehradun.
Moreover, the administration has deputed policemen after the IT officials sought them for security. The teams reached on Friday morning and began conducting raids at these establishments in Dehradun. These continued till the evening. IT teams were tight-lipped while conducting the raids.
With raids on, the team had sought help from district administration and police department. They sealed the shops, allowing no one to get in as long as the raids were on. The teams had also questioned the officials, it is learnt. The IT officials were engaged in collecting documents while this story was being filed.
