Issue of non-implementation of CM's orders raised

Exasperated by the failure of departmental officials to implement the announcements made by the Chief Minister in Khanpur Assembly constituency, MlA and Uttarakhand State Mineral Development Council chairman Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ has raised the issue through the media.

Stating that even the Chief Minister’s review meetings were proving to be only partially effective in ensuring the execution of approved works, Singh expressed hope that raising the issue through the media would help bring about the desired change in the functioning of departmental officials.

Addressing the media in Dehradun, Singh said that the Chief Minister had made various announcements for Khanpur constituency about two years ago. A total of 13 departments are responsible for executing the various announcements made by the CM.

“About two years ago the CM had announced development of sewer facility in the Milapnagar, Mohanpura, Dhandhera areas which would benefit about 35,000 people. However, even despite my seeking information from the Peyjal Nigam managing director, I was not informed about the work progress. It was only after I raised the issue during the Assembly session that the sought information was provided to me by the official. Similarly, most of the 13 departments involved in execution of the various announcements made by the CM are not discharging their responsibilities. Though the Public Works Department has started work on 10 out of 15 works allocated to it, officials of the other departments concerned including the Irrigation Department, Agriculture Department, Higher Education, School Education, Technical Education, Power department, Social Welfare department, Rural Development and Medical Health are not working as required to implement the CM’s announcements. Even the Chief Minister’s directions are being ignored,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said that the review meetings chaired by the Chief Minister Harish Rawat are proving to be only partially effective as the officials concerned are not executing directions issued to them.

Stating that the Cabinet should also look into this issue he said, “By raising this issue through the media I am hoping that the officials will introspect and discharge their tasks as required.”
