'Issue blue-black stickers for Govt vehicle users'

Uttarakhand Director General of Police BS Sidhu said that he would request the State Government to issue stickers in blue and black colours for Government officers or any persons of the State who are eligible for using beacon on their official vehicle.

Police do not properly check vehicles sporting red or blue beacons because it is generally perceived by the cops that only the eligible persons are using such beacons.

Police will easily identify valid beacon users with such strikers. likewise, they will easily take action against those persons who are using blue and red beacons on their vehicles without authorisation.

DGP Sidhu said that transport department had launched a campaign against the unauthorised use of beacons on both official and private vehicles by Government employees and private individuals in the State.

The department had imposed challan on violators. “Taking cognisance of this, we have decided to write a letter to the State Government to release stickers in blue and black colours for Government officers or any persons of the State who are eligible for using beacon on their official vehicle.

Police avoid acting against beacon users who are generally though to be valid users of these. However, some anti social elements might have been misusing such beacons on their vehicles as normally police do not check such vehicles properly. To avoid untoward incidents and allow only those persons who are eligible for using beacon on their vehicle, we are going to write a letter to the state government by Monday evening,” he added.
