Following media reports that Sanjay Kapoor, who had supervised the Congress legislature Party (ClP) meeting at the Chief Minister’s camp office on August 19, has submitted anti-government report before Congress high command, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna supporting MlAs led by MlA Subodh Uniyal have been camping in Delhi to put pressure on party high command not to change leadership in the State. Political analysts said that with this incident, it has cleared that all is not well within the Congress party.
This news flashed like bushfire despite day long President’s visit in Dehradun on Monday. Realising something wrong has happened with this then the MlAs took U-turn and said they had been to Delhi to invite Congress president Sonia Gandhi for Kedarnath temple, where prayers are going to resume by September 11, after disaster.
Talking to Tthe Pioneer, Gangotri MlA Vijaypal Sajwan said that he along with other eight MlAs including Subodh Uniyal (Narendranagar), Rajkumar (Rajpur Road), Vikram Singh Negi (Pratapnagar), Dr Shailendra Mohan Singhal (Jaspur), Umesh Sharma Kau (Raipur), Furkan Ahmed (Piran Kaliyar), Madan Singh Bisht (Dwarhat) and Pradeep Batra (Roorkee) met AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Monday. During meeting they expressed thanks for Food Security Act, which has been implemented in the State; and Union Government’s support to the Uttarakhand during disaster. “We also invited her to be in Kedarnath, where prayer is going to resume by September 11, on this occasion.”
Sources said that Sanjay Kapoor has submitted a report and claimed that most of the members are not happy with the ongoing rehabilitation programme of the State Government. If this would continue then situation may be inimical during upcoming lok Sabha election, which is due in 2014. Currently four out of five lok Sabha constituency of the state is being represented by the congress MPs. In general election-2009, Congress had won all five lok Sabha seats of the State, but the Congress lost Tehri lok Sabha bypolls with BJP candidate Mala Rajya lakshmi Shah.
Talking to The Pioneer, Kapkot MlA lalit Farswan, who was roaming the secretariat for getting government order for creation of new Tehsil in Bageshwar district, categorically said that he has heard that a delegation of Congress MlAs have been to Delhi to meeting party high command and they have gone there to appeal party high command not to make any change in the leadership at this moment.
He further said that Congress MlA Mayukh Mahar (Pithoragarh) is roaming along with him. It has made it clear that MlAs have gone but not all MlAs. Currently he was running after government order for creation of new Tehsil known as Dugnakuri, which would be fourth Tehsil after Kanda, Bageshwar and Kapkot in Bageshwar district.
Political analysts said that if this is true that they have gone to put pressure on party high command not to make any change in leadership in the State. It means only nine out of 33 MlAs been there.
