A joint survey would be undertaken by the teams of irrigation departments of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Pancheswar dam. The CS of UP Rajiv Kumar said that the issue of Pancheswar dam also came up for discussion. The dam would be constructed on River Sharda in Pithoragarh district. Uttarakhand government wants that the UP should release large chunks of land it has in Uttarakhand so that compensatory tree plantation on this land for the mega project can start. UP would get a major portion of water for irrigation from the project.
