Irregular dietary habits are proving detrimental to the health of people, especially the youth. Obsessive focus on work and stress apart from other factors cause people to remain apathetic to the necessity of proper eating habits.
Heart specialist and physician Dr Rakesh Mittal said, “Eating bits of non-nutritious food instead of having balanced diet renders the human body without enough energy and nutrition to carry on the functions necessary to sustain good health. Such improper dietary habits cause deterioration in a person’s health.
Not having balanced food or skipping meals causes digestion problems which further leads to weakness and disturbs our caloric balance,” he added.
Dietician and gym instructor Vineet Kala said, “There should be adequate time gap between the meals and eating bits of healthful snacks in between the meals can also be helpful.
Apart from drinking eight glasses of water a day, one should consume foods to gain the required amount of proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins. One should avoid food items with high sugar content and eat fruits instead of
such items.
Apart from eating they should atleast exercise for 30-35 minutes everyday, which ultimately helps body to function well and maintains the hormonal level. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for the body and the brain. People often cite lack of time as the reason for skipping meals.
One doesn’t need to sit down to have three big meals a day. Instead, you can eat fast, nutritious mini-meals, especially when facing shortage
of time. In case one is in a hurry and unable to have an elaborate breakfast a glass of orange juice and a cup of milk should suffice till the opportunity for a better meal presents itself,” he added.
However, observers point out that even though working out in gyms has become popular, the importance of healthful dietary habits is still being ignored by many. The rising preference for fast food instead of proper nutritious meals is also another trend detrimental to health.
