Agitated parents of Heritage school staged protest at the office of Chief Education Officer (CEO), SP Khali here on Friday.
Under the banner of Heritage school unit of Uttarakhand Parents association the members’ gheraoed the office of CEO. The members complained that the school management has arbitrarily increased the fees and is demanding annual charge of Rs1,350 from the parents.
The president of association Niraj Singhal said the CEO was not in his office though the association had informed him about the agitation.
He said that when informed about the agitation the CEO called him and assured that he has asked the management of Heritage school not to increase the fees till the report of the inquiry is not submitted to him.
The parents of Heritage school are up in arms against the school management over increase in fees. The parents had met the director of the school twice but that failed to break the ice with the school adamant on its stand.
The president of parents association said that district administration should implement the GO according to which the private schools are restricted to increase fees once in three years.
Similarly the district administration should force the private schools to implement only the books of National Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) as they are cheap and good in content.
The parents association is also demanding that the private schools should constitute Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) so that some sort of control is observed on the activities of the schools.
