Blaming the education department for not taking any steps against the harassment of parents by the operators of the private schools, the agitated members of Uttarakhand Parents Association gheraoed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Dehradun, SP Khali on Thursday.

The President of the association, Neeraj Singhal said that repeated pleas of the association against the hegemony of private schools have fallen on deaf ears of the district education department officers. “On almost all complaints of the association, the CEO Dehradun S P Khali orders an inquiry but when it comes to taking action against the offending schools nothing at all is done” He said that the association clearly told the CEO on Thursday that if action is not initiated against the erring schools then the association would complain to the top education department officers about his inefficiency.

The agitated members of the association said that the private schools are not forming Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and openly flout Right To Education (RTE) rules. The association alleged that most of these schools are not implementing the textbooks of NCERT and recommending books of private publishers for generating profits.

The CEO Dehradun, S P Khali said that he has taken cognizance of the complaint of the parents association and claimed that proper action against  private schools would be taken if the complaints against them are found true.
