IOC directs gas agency owner to improve supply of cylinders

Taking cognisance of consumers’ complaints against Shiva Gas Agency regarding delayed supply of lPG cylinders, Indian Oil Corporation  deputy manager (lPG Uttarakhand) Dhirendra Kumar called the agency owner and strictly directed him to improve supply of cylinders failing which customers will be shifted to other agencies.

Public complaints received in the Complaints Cell established by IOC and department of Food and Civil Supply revealed that customers in Shiva Gas Agency do not get their cylinders even 40 days after booking. Consumers’ phone calls are not picked up by the agency staff.

Angered by this, the consumers had recently protested in the city against the agency and demanded improvement in the supply of cooking gas.

Shiva Gas Agency consumers said that they have had protested outside the department of food and civil supply several times but the officer has not taken any action against the agency. The black marketing of cooking gas is rampant in the city but the officer has not acted against wrong doers so far.

Sulochna Bisht, Nehru Colony resident and Shiva gas agency customer and said that she had booked her cylinder 35 days ago but agency had not delivered it yet. Agency staff does not answer the phone despite of making several such attempts. “When I reached the agency office recently the staff assured me delivery but it has not done so yet,” she added.

The IOC deputy manager said that in view of increasing consumers’ complaints about delay in supply of gas from the agency and for the redressal of their grievances, IOC has established compliant cell in Dehradun.

“Customers can register their complaint on the telephone number 0125-2759898 and their concerns will be readdressed by the official appointed there,” Dhirendra Kumar added. He further said “all the agency owners have been strictly directed him to provide cooking gas to their customers within seven days of booking”

However, district food and civil supply officer Shyam Arya said that complaints received in the department are passed on to the agency concerned. “Three months ago, this agency was strictly directed to improve supply of cooking gas through home delivery to their customers. For the last many days, customers’ complaints against the agency have been increasing. Action will be taken if agency fails to improve supply of cooking gas to its customers soon,” he added.

Meet discusses supplies during Kanwar Mela

Dehradun: To improve supply of gas cylinders during Kanwar Mela to the Dehradun and other districts of the State, a meeting was recently held in Haridwar in which senior IOC senior officer issued necessary instructions to officials, said Indian Oil Corporation deputy manager (lPG Uttarakhand) Dhirendra Kumar.

It was decided that truck loaded with cylinders will also be supplied to the districts on Sunday. Kumar said, “there is no shortage of supply of cylinders from the company. The IOC officials will be in touch with district administration and police officers to facilitate the truck drivers if they face traffic jam due to movement of Kanwarias.”
