The International Pharmacists Day will be celebrated on 25 September. On this occasion, the felicitation function will be hosted in the district headquarters Pauri, in which two pharmacists will be felicitated among the working pharmacists in the Pauri district.
To celebrate the day in a befitting manner, a five- member committee has been constituted. The pharmacists day felicitation committee spokesperson Virendra Singh Panwar said that the committee has invited the names of the pharmacists under the prescribed norms through the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Medical Superintendent of hospitals and names of 30 pharmacists have so far been received. The two pharmacists will be selected by the committee against the yardstick of their notable contribution in medical services. On the eve of International Pharmacists Day, the poster competition will be organised too. The Pharmacy Council of India celebrated the day for the first time in 2013. Enthusiasm is visible among the pharmacists across the district as the pharmacists’ day would be celebrated for the first time in the Pauri district, he added.
Panwar said that Uttarakhand State has been facing shortage of doctors. Under such circumstances, the pharmacists are giving the medical services to the public aside from their original works. Therefore they deserve to be aptly felicitated, he said.
