The State Government has issued the interim notification regarding the reservation status of mayoral posts in seven municipal corporations in the state. While three have been reserved for women, two have been kept general, one each has been reserved for backward caste and scheduled caste. According to the interim notification issued by secretary RK Sudhanshu, the mayoral posts in municipal corporations of Dehradun and Haldwani have been kept general while mayoral posts in municipal corporations of Rishikesh, Haridwar and Kotdwar have been reserved for women. The mayoral posts in municipal corporations of Kashipur and Rudrapur have been reserved for backward and scheduled castes respectively. The status of Roorkee has not been stated as the matter of delimitation is pending in the court. Meanwhile, suggestions or objections to the interim notification have been invited in the seven days from the issuance of the notification.
