Members of different communities interacted in Rang Himalayas, an inter-cultural festival organised by Avikal initiative for life and active learning along with Nanhi Dunya, the international movement for children and their friends here on Tuesday.
Buddhist monks and nuns from Sajya monastery, members of the Jain, Christian, Muslim and Hindu communities along with students from various schools and educational institutions expressed their views on the occasion that also saw prayers by members of different communities. Conceptualiser of Rang Himalayas, Alok Ulfat of Avikal, said, “We are born in a secular country where there is no room for narrow minded political and religious
dogmas. Rang Himalayas is a small but meaningful attempt to bring children, youth and adults together on a common platform to express compassion, faith, conviction and diversity,” he added.
Co-founder of the event Satvika Goyal said that diversity will help tackle negativity in society. By strengthening intercultural relations, “Rang Himalayas was an effort aimed at empowering people by engaging them in creative endeavours to broaden their social, cultural and environmental awareness giving them a sense of holistic life and social responsibility,” she added.
