The trend of surprise inspections during night hours set by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat seems to have made an impact as those at the helm of police and administration are now following suit. At CM's heels, State additional director general of police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena did the same in the State capital on Monday night.
To show that he was fully 'awake' on the chilly nights, he ordered suspension of two policemen on deputation in Dharampur area for their fault of huddling around wood fire to beat the cold. Now, it is the turn of Dehradun district magistrate Chandresh Kumar to begin the nocturnal drives to keep a check and bring to book officials, who prefer dozing on duty. This is imperative for the DM too as the CM has asked the DMs to find out ways to improve the quality of administration.
Interestingly, DM Kumar asked his officers to put their grievances in front of the CM while he was addressing the district officers during Tehsil programme on Tuesday. The district officers should discuss their grievances with the CM when the people's grievances are being addressed by the departments concerned on the instructions of the CM, he said.
Besides, the DM has directed the district officers to go for surprise inspections in their respective departments and to submit reports on the third day of every month. "We are looking forward to the DM to lead the show himself. Things move from top to bottom as we all know," one of the district officers said while requesting anonymity.
