Authorities of the district jail landed in trouble on Monday when the prisoners  refused to take lunch asa part of  protesting againstthe new rules  proposed by the district jail.

As per the new system, the meeting of the inmates with the visitors would be video-recorded with the duration of such meetings being reduced from half an hour to 15 minutes. It is learnt that over 900 inmates of the jail are resenting such decisions.

Speaking of the matter, the jailer district jail Roshanabad S M Singh said, “There is resentment amongst the prisoners regarding the changes being introduced in the system. However, nothing has been decided so far.  We proposed the

changes following our talks with the IG jail. Talks are  still on with the ADM. We

hope that the final

decision would be taken later this day.”

However, some prison insiders said that the changes are meant for the history- sheeters and not for  the ordinary inmates.
