If all goes well information regarding medical facilities of the district hospital would soon be made online. It is learnt that plans are afoot to link the district hospital with online registration system (ORS) of the State.
Once put into place, this would spare the patients numerous hassles like collecting information of the doctors’ availability on particular days and the availability of the medicines that they need to buy. It happens quite often that the patients, coming from the far- flung villages, return disappointed while finding certain medical OPDs non-functional, thanks to the absence of doctors. Online information would enable them to know in advance the status before they step out of their houses.
The process of making the medical facilities available at the Haridwar district hospital online has already begun, said a health department officer. As part of the initiative taken by the state directorate of health services, detailed information has been sought from the district hospital regarding stock of medicines, schedule of the doctors, their duty charts and other related information.
Even the blood bank services would be made online soon. In emergencies, the patients would get full details of available blood of respective groups and also about the blood donors once the blood bank facility is made online. Speaking to The Pioneer, the blood bank in-charge, district hospital, Dr S N Khan said, “The process of linking the facilities of blood bank with ORS has started. We have also demanded more staff for the data entry from the state authorities through letters.”
The chief medical superintendent of district hospital Dr Arti Dhaundhiyal said, “E-hospital would come up by linking the district hospital with ORS. The state DG health Dr D S Rawat has asked the details from our hospital about vacant posts, availability of medicines, doctors’ duty hours in OPDs and the like. A nodal officer has been tasked with streamlining the activities of automation. Very soon, the people would avail the medical facilities online.”
