The BJP Uttarakhand chief Tirath Singh Rawat visited the disaster affected areas in Joshimath in Chamoli district and later said that the different State government statements related to the disaster and resumption of the Char Dham Yatra are sending the wrong message to the nation and spreading confusion.
Rawat alleged that the State government had lost balance which is why its ministers and officials were making incongruent statements. He said that the government will have to take all necessary measures in the interests of those affected by the disaster. Terming the condition of relief measures in Joshimath as unsatisfactory, he said that the administration is not paying attention to those in need. The partially damaged homes are being neglected which is causing dissatisfaction among the home owners.
The government will have to pay compensation on per-family basis according to the ration cards, he added. People from across India have been affected by the disasters experienced recently in Uttarakhand but the State government had so far failed to present the correct report on this. He alleged that Congress workers had amassed relief materials in godowns in various areas while the State government has lost its morals and was acting insensitively. He further said that BJP workers will survey six affected districts and submit their report to leader of Opposition in lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
