In the mountainous areas of the State where doctors are not available, the nurses are discharging their duty and are playing a significant role in the saving the lives of the people, said Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat while addressing a State-level Staff Nurses Association Conference-2017 here on Sunday.

The programme was organised under joint aegis of College of Nursing of Shri Guru Ram Rai University and Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI)-Uttarakhand Branch. Heaping praises on the nurses, the Minister said that though the doctor is regarded as the God, the nurses have a place even beyond that.

The Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS, Rishikesh and Secretary, TNAI, Uttarakhand Branch, Dr Suresh Kumar Sharma, said that association is taking care of the rights and welfare of the nurses. He demanded that a nursing directorate should be founded in Uttarakhand.

More than 600 nursing students and faculty members are attending two day event.
