The IMS Unison University celebrated ‘Matribhasha Diwas’ on Saturday at its campus to promote the use of mother-tongue and to sensitise the people about the need of greater use of mother-tongue and other Indian languages for the development and progress of the nation.
The events organised at the campus included poster-making, elocution and essay writing competitions, to mark the day. Pro-Chancellor of IMS Unison University M P Jain said that our tradition and language should be promoted for the development of the nation.
Vice-Chancellor of IMS Unison University Dr DK Bandhopadyaya also expressed his views and said that Matribhasha Diwas should be celebrated with full vigour and enthusiasm. He said that we should be proud of our regional language and regional traditions and should work to promote it and preserve it for the unity of the nation.
UNESCO has declared February 21 as International Mother language Day to promote the dissemination of mother-tongues and fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
