The State Urban Development and Housing minister Madan Kaushik has directed that measures be taken for improvement of civic facilitation and beautification of Dehradun. Chairing an official meeting, Kaushik directed that steps be taken in the first stage to enable smooth flow of traffic on the busiest ISBT-Prince Chowk-Darshanlal Chowk-Clock Tower road. Municipal corporation officials were told to identify sites for development of parking facility, vendors’ zone, tempo stand and auto-rickshaw stand. The sanitation, lighting and other facilities in basement parkings at commercial complexes should also be checked, said the minister. He directed officials of departments concerned to remove the electricity and other poles standing on the roads. In the first phase, the poles in the way of traffic will be shifted from the ISBT to Clock Tower road. Officials were asked to check and facilitate traffic lights, signage at identified spots and entry of heavy goods carriers in the city area only during a fixed time slot.
