The mission director National Health Mission (NHM) Yugal Kishore Pant has said that a system of tracking patients referred to other hospitals should be implemented in the State. He said this while addressing a review meeting of the progress of various schemes under NHM at State Health Directorate on Wednesday. He directed the State nodal officer NHM, Dr Amit Shukla to make Standard Operating Protocols (SOP) for patients sent to other hospitals. “ A referral protocol should be constituted for transparent system of tracking patients in which the medical superintendent of the hospital concerned should be made accountable for treatment of such referred patients,’’ he said.
Pant also expressed concern on declining number of institutional deliveries in the Government hospitals and health centres.
He said that just 62 pregnant women had registered themselves in the Government Health Centres during first trimester of pregnancy which is a cause of concern.
Pant said that facilities for delivery in Government hospitals should be improved so that people are not forced to go to private hospitals.
The MD, NHM, termed the Prime Minister Dialysis Scheme as one of the priority schemes and directed that the project should soon start. Under the scheme, seven dialysis centres in six districts would be opened.
Notably, dialysis centres on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode would be set up in the district hospital Haridwar, Joint Hospital Kotdwar and district hospital Udham Singh nagar. Similarly, Government would set up dialysis units in the Base Hospital Almora, district hospitals of Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag and the medical college Srinagar.
In course of the review meeting, MD NHM was informed that three dialysis machines at Base Hospital Almora have been installed while the process is in progress in other hospitals.
During the meeting, Pant expressed concern on the data of family planning which shows that the graph is on a decline. He said that facility of family planning measures should be informed to the people in the camps on the basis of priority. He, further, said that surgeons should be made available for these camps and added that the special male vasectomy fortnight from November 21 should be made successful with public participation.
The meeting was attended by the director NHM Dr Anjali Nautiyal, additional project director (APD) Dr Abhishek Tripathi, additional director National Programmes Dr Saroj Naithani, joint director Dr Bagesh Kala, Dr V S Tolia and Dr Amit Shukla.
