Good team work forms bedrock of success in the profession of arms wherein individualism should give way to collectivism and there is no runners up in a war, said the Commandant of Indian Military Academy (IMA) lieutenant General, SK Saini while addressing the award ceremony of passing out course of 138 Regular, 121 Technical Graduate Course (TGC) and 24 University Entry Scheme (UES) courses at Khetrapal auditorium on Wednesday.
He said that to bear arms for defence of the country is the noblest profession. lt Gen Saini said that it is important for an officer to maintain a competitive streak within the parameters of sportsmanship and fair play at all times. He mentioned that the urge to win and excel as a team should always be there.
On the occasion, the commandant presented awards to the outstanding Gentlemen Cadets (GC) who excelled in various fields during their pre-commission training at the Academy. Congratulating the winners, lt General Saini said that those who failed to receive awards should not get disheartened as in the long run, the duties performed in units would be yardstick of the success.
The GCs during their training at this premier institute are exposed to multifarious activities such as weapon training, service and academic subjects, drill, physical training, sports, outdoor camps and extracurricular activities which are aimed at making them battle ready and teach them necessary skills to execute various responsibilities and operational tasks. The Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University, P K Garg was also present on the occasion and he conferred completion certificates to the Foreign Gentlemen Cadets.
