An international conference on Intelligent Communication, Control and Devices was organised at Department of Electronics, instrumentation and control engineering of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES). The conference was conducted in three parallel tracks related to Intelligent Communication, Intelligent Control and Intelligent Devices.

The conference was inaugurated by Director Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dr A Senthil Kumar who attended the seminar as Chief Guest. In his address, Dr Kumar dwelt on sensor characterization, grain settings, and radiometric data processing of Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites.  He elaborated image restoration and data fusion techniques, artificial neural networks for remote sensing data classification. The former Scientist Group G of Defence Electronics Application laboratory (DEAl), Dr R P Dixit was the guest of honour on the occasion.

He spoke on design and development of active and passive microwave and millimetre wave components, slotted array antennas and printed antennas for Missiles. Dr Tan Cher Ming from Chang Gung University, Taiwan and Dr Soumen Das from IIT Kharagpur delivered keynote addresses on the occasion.

Dr Ming focussed his address on reliability and failure in physics modelling of electronic components and systems, finite element modelling of materials degradation, statistical modelling of engineering systems, nano-materials and devices reliability. He also explained prognosis and health management of engineering system.
