The IAS officers working in Uttarakhand have condemned the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary of NCT by some MlAs in front of the residence of the Chief Minister of Delhi during a meeting on Monday night. Dr Ranbir Singh, president of Indian Administrative Service Association Uttarakhand Cadre, dubbed the attack as shocking meant to hinder impartial functioning of the civil service and thus to undermine the constitution.
Notably, the Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash had been allegedly manhandled by two MlAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Monday night. The Delhi police had lodged an FIR on a complaint received from Prakash under various sections of IPC against the AAP MlAs. In his complaint to Delhi police, Prakash had called the attack on him at Kejriwal’s residence as premeditated.
Dr Singh along with other members of the association demanded legal action against the MlAs involved in the attack.“The attack not just amounts to a dent into the rule of law but it would also hinder the neutral and impartial functioning of the civil services which is a pillar of the constitutional functioning of the country. The Uttarakhand IAS Association strongly stands in solidarity with the Chief Secretary of Delhi and demands strict legal action and immediate arrest of all the culprits,” he added.
