The fast unto death of five members of Trained Unemployed Physical Teacher Association (TUPTA) entered third day on Thursday. In support of their demand for creation of a post of physical teacher in every government school of state these youths are sitting on indefinite hunger strike at old Raipur bus stand near parade ground.
On Thursday the members of TUPTA staged a protest by donning black arm bands against what they allege apathetic attitude of the state government. The state patron of the TUPTA, Devendra Koranga told The Pioneer that the state government blocked the job prospects of physical education graduates in the year 2006 and in last eight years thousands of such candidates have surpassed the upper age limit of getting the government job. He said that in last 389 days the association has only got the promises which proved to be false.
However the condition of five youths, Girish Chandra, Sanjay Singh, Munnu Singh, Vijendra and Suresh Kumar who are sitting on the indefinite hunger strike from October 7 is stable. The state President of TUPTA, Sunder Dhoni said that the fast un to death would continue till all their demands are accepted by the state government. He said that there is a huge resentment among the unemployed youths on the attitude of the state government and added that the government would be solely responsible if the agitated youths adopt some undemocratic step.
The association is demanding that the state government should make permanent appointments of physical education teachers in all the Primary and middle schools of the state without the restriction of student number. The other demands of these unemployed physical education teachers are release of recruitment advertisement for 10000 posts, appointments in the upgraded schools under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and creation of post of lecturer physical education in the Government Inter Colleges (GIC) of state.
