Hundreds of BJP activists gathered at Har Ki Pauri on Tuesday with newly purchased brooms in their hands to participate in the Swachta Abhiyan as launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the principal reason that drew them in their hordes was the BJP MP from Mathura and Bollywood star Hema Malini. She did the cleaning up for barely two minutes along with the former Chief Minister and the Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank and thereafter she headed for the airport.
Notably, the star was declared the brand ambassador of Sparsh Ganga Abhiyan for cleaning Ganga during Kumbh Mela of Haridwar in 2010 at the behest of then CM Nishank. Draped in cream and majenta coloured salwat suit, Hema alighted from her car at CCR tower and cleaned the already cleaned Shiv Setu as a symbolic gesture. She had performed Ganga arati at Har Ki Pauri on Monday afternoon.
Nishank said, “The Harish Rawat neglecting the holy Ganga, we have revived the Sparsh Ganga campaign by incorporating it in Modi ji’s Swachta Abhiyan.”
