The State unit of Congress party has criticised the State Government for organising human chain event on Tuesday without proper preparations which created problems for general public. The party also took the State Government to task for deliberately ignoring the statehood activists in the ongoing State foundation day celebrations.
The spokesperson of the state Congress, Garima Dasauni said that the party supports the idea of making Dehradun free from polythene but has serious objection on the manner at which the event was organised. She said people faced many inconveniences due to the event and it would have been better if it was organised on Sunday or any other holiday.
The Congress spokesperson said that the event was held during the peak time of schools and offices which created problems from the people. “The event was marked with chaos and many students failed to reach in time for their examinations. At many places ambulances were stopped which delayed arrival of patients in the hospitals,’’ she said.
The Congress leader also blamed the Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) for making inflated claims on participation in the event and said that involvement of general public was almost zero. She said that the Mayor should keep in mind the problems faced by the general public before planning such event in future.
Dasauni also took pot-shots on the state government for ignoring the statehood activists during the ongoing state foundation day celebrations.
She said that the state government has insulted the statehood activists who were responsible for creation of a separate State of Uttarakhand by giving big sacrifices.
She warned that the people of the state would not tolerate insult of its statehood activists.
