The hotel owners and the tour operators of Mussoorie are hoping that the Cupid, God of love, would bless them to gain their business collections this Valentine.

The hill town is an ideal place for a romantic holiday and hoteliers here are hoping that many tourists would come to celebrate the Valentine day, next week and this would give a much needed boost to their otherwise dull business of this season. Due to its breathtaking beauty, the small hill town of Mussoorie is bestowed with the title of Queen of Hills. The proximity with the national capital and other important north Indian cities makes this a special destination to come for a two day break.

Rajat Agarwal, a hotelier and President of Mussoorie Traders and Welfare Association informed The Pioneer that the Mussoorie is an ideal and very affordable place for the domestic tourists as one can find a good hotel room in price ranging between Rupees 1,000- 2,000 . He said that the Government should develop some other destinations around Mussoorie and places like Mussoorie lake, ropeway should be refurbished so that the tourists extend their usual two day stay to at least three days.

A good spell of snow in Mussoorie excites the snow lovers of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana and it makes them to rush here. The civic authorities however would not try to repeat the fiasco caused during the snowfall, last month, when police stopped the tourists from reaching Mussoorie and the power and water supplies were snapped in the town causing problems to the tourists.

The District Tourism Officer of Dehradun Y K Gangwar told The Pioneer that the tourism department has organized events like Himalayan Car Rally and Winter line Carnival to promote the tourism. The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has proposed an integrated plan to develop and beautify the famous Mal road of Mussoorie and construction of a modern parking facility with a capacity of five hundred vehicles at Picture palace near the Bus stand. The locals here feel that these measures would definitely give a much needed fillip to the tourism industry here.
