Dehradun police on Tuesday arrested Max Hospital ward boy on the charge of molesting a woman, who had been in intensive care unit (ICU) in the hospital since February 20.
The accused has been identified as Sumit, resident of Dl Road, was sent to Suddhowala Jail after being presented in the court, said Mussoorie Circle Officer Jaya Baloni. In his written complaint, victim’s husband said that his wife was molested by hospital ward boy. The victim also identified the accused. Taking cognisance of this, a case (FIR number 13/14) was registered against accused under Section 354 of IPC in Rajpur Police station. Meanwhile, the hospital has issued a statement saying that Max Healthcare has zero-tolerance for inappropriate behaviour of staff.
"The patient, who was brought to the hospital in a state of acute respiratory distress and has been under intensive care for the last 18 days, reported to her family that she believes she was improperly touched by a male general duty attendant. In view of the serious and sensitive nature of the matter, we assisted the family in lodging a complaint with the police and they are currently investigating the matter with our full support. Appropriate action will be taken as per the results of the investigation," stated the hospital authorities.
