'Himachal, other States to follow precedent set by Modi-Shah in Doon'

The nation-wide fight against corruption under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah resulted in the routing of the Congress-led State Government from Uttarakhand and now the same is probable to happen in Himachal Pradesh and other states with Congress governments. The BJP State president Ajay Bhatt said this while addressing the media here on Sunday.

Citing the Delhi high court decision of March 31, holding FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh valid and rejecting his appeal, Bhatt said that Singh should immediately resign from the office of chief minister. The BJP State president said, “Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh has been facing serious charges of disproportionate assets since the time when he was a union cabinet minister. His appeal against the CBI FIR was rejected by the Delhi high court which held the report valid along with the CBI raid conducted at Singh’s residence. Considering all the known facts, it is legally and constitutionally not proper for Singh to continue on the poast of the chief minister any longer.”

Bhatt averred that the fight against corruption is also being carried out in Uttarakhand under chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat with a decision being taken to refer probe of the alleged national highway scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation and various senior level officials being suspended. He said, “The lokayukta Bill has been brought and a transparent  transfer policy is being drafted. This clearly shows that the BJP government is working with a policy of zero-tolerance towards corruption.”

Referring to his recent Delhi visit, Bhatt said that the prime minister has assured full cooperation to Uttarakhand. He thanked the union minister of foreign affairs, Sushma Swaraj for three centres- Almora, Nainital and Haldwani—being allocated under the post office passport service in Uttarakhand. This facility will also be provided in the other districts. Welcoming the making of the Ganga river authority, Bhatt said that this will help speed up work and help make the condition of the Ganga cleaner. BJP spokesman Devendra Bhasin was also present in the Press conference.
