Highways connecting capital city damaged

Published on:

After experiencing the first rainfall of season, several potholes are formed across the capital city. Among the worst affected areas are the highways and connecting routes to the capital city.

The residents lamented over the use of sub-standard material but the officials completely ruled out the allegations and said good quality material was used while repairing the roads in the capital city, two months back. The quality of the recently constructed roads could be easily gauzed by the fact that the several potholes have emerged after witnessing thunder showers last weekend. Shockingly, the recently constructed roads in the capital city have started giving up before its stipulated time.

The patch of newly recently constructed road at Defence Colony sunk. The situation is equally worst near Vidhan Sabha where department tried to fill the pothole by mud but the pothole may turn fatal as it has again started sinking. The pothole has also emerged on EC road on Wednesday inviting accidents. The situation may turn extremely fatal at night. The condition of roads on Dehradun-Haridwar is also bad. Dozens of huge potholes have emerged on under-construction four-lane highway. Additionally, several potholes have also emerged on Haridwar by-pass thus making the bumpy ride to the two and four wheelers.

Among the worst affected areas in capital city are Circular road, Patel Nagar, Subhash road, Tibet market, GMS road, Gandhi road, Saharanpur road, Rajpur road, Kedarpuram, Faltu lines, Nehru Colony, Shastardhara road etc. The lack of coordination among the different Government agencies could be easily seen as the recently constructed roads as the nodal agencies are busy excavating newly constructed roads across the capital city.

One of the department sources told The Pioneer that potholes would be repaired once the weather improves in the coming season.
