Dehradun: Nainital High Court issued a stay order on recruitment of 339 sub-inspectors on Tuesday and directed the State government to file a reply within three weeks.

Sources said that Haridwar resident Neeraj had filed a petition in the High Court pleading that large numbers of applicants are unable to apply for the posts of sub-inspector because some applicants end up being categorised either under below age or overage due to July 1, 2014 being fixed as the cut off date by the state government. Applicants whose age is from 21 to 27 till July 1, 2014 were stated to be eligible to apply for the post of sub-inspector. Moreover, the government has fixed January 1, 2014 as the cut off date for the recruitment of constables in the State.

The petition was heard in the court of Justice Alok Singh. The High Court issued a stay order on recruitment of 339 sub-inspectors and directed the state government to file a reply within three weeks. It should be mentioned here that the Government had recently released advertisement for direct recruitment to posts of 339 sub-inspectors and 350 constables in the State.
