Heavy spell of rains lashed capital Raipur and its surrounding areas late Tuesday evening leading to many low lying areas getting inundated while water logging on s everal roads almost choked the traffic.
Commuters were seen struggling at several places to cross the cesspool created by the late evening rain. According to meteorological department officials, the high intensity precipitation was due to local reason as there was no system active in the Bay of Bengal which controls the Monsoon rains in this season.
As the capital witnessed full bright sun after a couple of days, it enhanced the humidity finally resulting in rain. However, it was more than heavy as within an hour rain waters entered many residential areas. According to sources, water logged under the Mova over bridge creating hurdle and jam like situation near Avanti bai chowk, whereas traffic was virtually came to cease in between Fafadih chowk and Railway station.
