Heavy rainfall is likely to lash isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts during the next 48 hours starting from May 12 morning.
Besides, the Met official also said that hail/thunder squall with a speed of 55-65 kmph is likely to lash places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts during the next 24 hours from Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Hails were also reported from some places. By 8.30 am on Tuesday, 40 mm rainfall was reported in Haldwani, 30 mm each in Pithoragarh and Bageshwar, 20 mm each in Gangolihat and Jakholi, 10 mm each in Ranikhet, Karnprayag, Banbasa, Nainital-1, Uttarkashi and Garud, one mm in Mukteshwar and 4.6 mm in Pantnagar.
Dehradun residents continued to reel under scorching heat on Tuesday, though the maximum temperature came down by two notches from 38 degree to 36 degree. Roads continued to be deserted during the day hours with the students remaining at the receiving end of the heat as they stepped out of the schools to catch buses back home.
The highest maximum temperature 39.7°C was recorded at Jolly Grant while the lowest minimum temperature 10.9°C was recorded at Munsiyari. Bikram Singh, director of Uttarakhand Meteorological centre, said that light to moderate rain/thunder shower is likely to occur at many places in Uttarakhand on Wednesday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35ºC and 22ºC respectively in Dehradun on Wednesday.
The maximum temperature settled at 36.2ºC (two degree above the normal) while the minimum at 24.1ºC (four degree above the normal) in Dehradun.
It was 24.2ºC (one degree above the normal) and 10.8ºC (one degree below the normal) in Mukteshwar and 34.8ºC (one degree below the normal) and 20.1ºC (normal) in Pantnagar.
In Tehri district, maximum temperature was reported as 26.0 degree Celsius while the minimum was 15.0 degree Celsius on Tuesday.
