The State Meteorological Centre has issued heavy rain alert for a large swathe of Uttarakhand for the next 48 hours and very heavy rain alert for two days-August 23 and 24. The districts which have been marked for the alert are Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Dehradun. For the rest of the State, the forecast is of generally cloudy with likelihood of light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
As per the Met centre, the shower would be very heavy for two days–August 23 and 24. The weather officers said that the required precautions should be taken in view of the very heavy rain alert for two days from Wednesday.
After a subdued rain activity for some days, the very heavy rain alert as issued by the Met department has put the administration again on the alert mode. “We are taking steps to ensure that the rain does not bring about major damage anywhere in the district,” said a senior Dehradun district administration officer.
