The Met department has warned that many parts of the hills and the plains of Uttarakhand is likely to reel under heat wave to severe heat wave condition for the next four/five days and rain would remain elusive till the week-end. The mercury across the state being on the surge, Dehradun experienced another sweltering day on Tuesday as the maximum temperature soared further as compared to Monday, settling at near 41 degree Celsius.
As per the weather forecast, dry climate would prevail across the state till the week-end and to compound the summer woes of the people, gusty surface wind with a speed between 20 and 30 km per hour is likely to blow towards the afternoon across the state on Wednesday. In Dehradun, the same dry climate would prevail on Wednesday with the maximum temperature surging to over 41 degree Celsius.
A Met officer said that there is little possibility of rain giving respite from the heat wave and the dry climate for the coming few days. Rather things might turn worse as the mercury might rise further. The weather officers said that right now they are in position to say when the much-awaited rain would come. “Both the hills and the plains of the state would continue to reel under the severe to very severe heat wave conditions for the next four/five days. Besides, strong, surface wind with a speed of 20 to 30 km per hour is likely to blow across the state for the next four to five days,” said a senior Met officer based in Dehradun.
