The health minister Surendra Singh Negi made a surprise visit of Doon Women hospital on Thursday and inspected the condition of the wards. It appeared that the hospital administration had  got a whiff of health minister’s plan and everything appeared perfect to the minister.

The minister inquired the in house patients about the treatment and other facilities which the state government provides to them. One Asha worker, Poonam Agarwal complained that Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), Jolly grant charged money from one of her patients despite being a referral case from the Doon hospital. The minister promptly asked Director Doon Group of hospital Dr R S Aswal to look in the matter.

The minister told the patients and their relatives about the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojna (MSBY) and asked them to avail its benefit. He asked the patients and their relatives about the behavior of the hospital staff and said that they should not give any tips to the nursing staff. Negi seemed satisfied by the sanitation condition of the hospital. The health minister was accompanied by Dr Aswal and acting Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Doon women hospital Dr Meenakshi Joshi.
